Every July 4th, most Americans take time to reflect on our country’s history and sometimes, we consider what it means to be an American citizen. As Christians, we have another citizenship to think about regarding our heavenly home. While July 4 is the date where the colonists declared their freedom from the tyrannical rule of the king of England, our salvation is the moment when we gain our freedom from the tyranny of sin and death. We accept the lordship of Jesus as the ruler of the Kingdom of Heaven, a kingdom of which we are citizens.
