Matthew 18:19
That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven.
There are times when the need is great and while I am confident in my own ability to pray, I cherish the partnership of a fellow believer who can agree with me in prayer. I fondly remember the times of agreeing with a brother for the needs of the church and then watching the Lord answer those prayers. For example, we had been praying for the teenagers of the church, asking that the Lord would bring them to salvation. Week after week, youth would come to the Lord in answer to our prayers.
The first rule to praying in agreement is to find someone who is of like mind to yourself on the topic. This person needs to believe as you do on the subject. Scripture tells us “Can two walk together, except they be agreed?” (Amos 3:3). If we are to walk together in prayer, we must be in one accord.
The second rule is to find a scripture that deals with the topic you are working on. So if you are praying for a financial need, you might consider the scripture “But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:19).
Now the two of you pray that scripture over the need that exists, reminding the Lord of the scriptural promise that His Word has provided. And that takes us to the third rule. Give thanks. We should always be grateful when we are asking for His blessing when we pray and when we receive the answer to our prayer.
